Designing for the long, narrow lot has several options. First you’ll need to determine whether the lot size allows for an attached or detached garage or whether a tuck under garage better suits the existing homes in the neighborhood and property grade or slope. The above design, with its tuck under garage, offers the same square footage as the other options on this page, but offers two decks, and the option to have either a street facing entry door or one wrapped just to the side of the front porch.
On any of these plans, there is an option for a media room, extra bedroom, and extensive storage in the basement. In the tuck under plan, a rear door allows convenient access to the back yard and deck.
The elevation below is a similar floor plan but flipped and offers a larger covered entry and seating area on the porch.
Should the long, narrow lot be situated on a corner property, the following floor plan allows for a connecting mudroom with powder room. All four bedrooms are located on the second floor while the basement plan (not shown) accommodates a media room and additional guest quarters.
