Before & After Rambler Makeover

Rambler Before & English-County Estate After

A Lake Minnetonka general contractor that spent her days flipping condemned properties and turning them into gems desired her own home makeover; so she hired me to recreate her 1960’s lakeside, stucco rambler into the masterpiece of her dreams. In 2002, we designed a romantic and stunning English Revival manor complete with an imitation thatched roof to be constructed of unusually large and irregular-sized cedar shingles, a turret in the main floor library, three fireplaces, eyebrow dormers, and a skyway connecting the main house to the garage and guest quarters. Architectural details she desired included living room parquetry in a herringbone pattern, substantial built-ins, a Juliet balcony, an expansive island, oversized French doors throughout, and exquisite stained glass windows, primarily in the spiral stairwell and library. The grandiose home portrays a weighty medieval style that included at her request, overtones from the Renaissance period.
